Sycamore wins 3-2
The Fairview Lady Jackets fell 3-2 to the Sycamore Lady War Eagles on their September 20 road trip to Pleasant View. The two teams were sitting in first and second place in the district with Fairview’s only district loss coming to Sycamore earlier in the season.
Sycamore was able to remain undefeated in the district with a close 3-2 win.
Fairview scored first with a goal off the foot of Katie Coble early in the first half. Anna Kate Saylor would answer for Sycamore with a header that came from a corner kick from Cassie Groves.
Groves would score a goal of her own later in the first half to take a 2-1 lead before the half.
Sycamore would add another goal early in the second half when Groves scored her second goal of the evening. The score would stay 3-1 until late in the second half when Fairview’s Emily Quant scored to make it 3-2.
Despite the loss, the Lady Jackets’ offense showed improvement while the defense remained solid.
Fairview did have a chance late to tie the game, but the Sycamore goalie made a game-clinching save with just 20 seconds left to play.

The Fairview Lady Jackets hosted their annual Senior Night last Friday, playing Lincoln County on the turf at The Nest.
Despite high spirits and solid plays, Fairview struggled with a tough and talented Lincoln County team. Battling to the end, the girls were unable to find the net, falling 6-0.
