The Fairview Middle School Falcon Football Team celebrated an exciting 30-12 win over William James on Thursday, August 26.
According to FMS Head Football Coach Ron King, “The team played extremely well” in the first half jumping out to a 24-0 lead.
The offensive line consisting of Aiden Quinonez, Jack Rood, Sam Rood, Kentrell Harrison, Wade King and Andrew Jackson controlled the line of scrimmage opening big holes for the backs.
Jax McCoy scored 3 touchdowns, caught 2 key passes and made several big plays. He also served as the Falcons punter and kicker during the game.
Tate Mathis, a sixth grader, started at quarterback and scored a touchdown. Zay Dowell, also a sixth grader, scored three 2-point conversions.
On defense, the stars were Andrew Jackson and Kentrell Harrison on the defensive line with Will Frank at linebacker. Jax McCoy patrolled the secondary and had two pass breakups.
Coach King said he is quite pleased with how the players and coaches have prepared for this season.
The Falcons’ next game is Thursday, September 2 at Harpeth Middle. The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m. and the Varsity game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
