John Henry Fitzgerald




John Henry Fitzgerald, age 70 of Burns, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.

John was born February 12, 1950 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was a son of the late Lloyd Wilson Fitzgerald and the late Louise Scott Fitzgerald.

He was a graduate of Bolles High School in Jacksonville, Florida and attended The Citadel. John served his Country for 8 years in the U.S. Air Force. He received an electronics degree from Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina. John worked as a technician for AT&T and retired after 20 years of service.

He enjoyed the ham radio as a hobby and making music. For two years he performed as guitarist for the band Autumn Drive in Charleston, South Carolina, where he was known as “Rockin John”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Lange; and his brother, Lloyd Fitzgerald, Jr.

John is survived by his sisters, Sara Fitzgerald of Hanahan, South Carolina, and Mary F. Page of Eutawville, South Carolina; his nieces, Sarah Lange of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Nikki Fitzgerald Wood and her husband Jay of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; nephews, Jeff Fitzgerald and his wife Nekola of Lancaster, South Carolina, John Lange of Ambler, Pennsylvania, Reed Lange and his wife Kim of Smithton, Missouri; and special friend, Ann Curtis of Fairview, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

A time to remember and pay tribute to the life of John Henry Fitzgerald will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, from 4 until 6 p.m. with a family member giving a brief eulogy at 6 p.m.
