Adding a little more drama to a season already clouded by the COVID-19 virus and the uncertainty of the pandemic restrictions, the Girls District 11AA Basketball Tournament was delayed last week after four days of wintry mixed precipitation.
The Girls District 11AA Tournament, which is being hosted by Fairview as regular season District Champs, began with the Lady Jackets defeating Lewis County in the quarterfinals on February 13.
Their February 16 game was rescheduled to Monday night due to inclement weather.
The Lady Yellow Jackets faced off against East Hickman in their district semifinals game on Monday night.
After defeating East in the regular season on January 15 and February 9, the Fairview girls had the odds in their favor. However, they found themselves in an unexpected battle on the court and were unable to recover from an early deficit. The Lady Jackets fell 34-42 to East Hickman.
The Fairview girls (18-8, 13-1) will return to the court at 6 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, February 24 to host Stewart County (20-7, 10-4), who lost to Creek Wood Monday night.
