Most would agree 2020 has been an unpredictable and stressful year – unless you are talking about the success of local youth football teams. In that case, 2020 has been a stellar year for the Fairview Titans Jr Pro Football Program.

Not one, but two Fairview Titan Jr. Pro Football teams are celebrating in a big way after scoring back-to-back Superbowl Championships on November 14.

Fairview Titan Peewees celebrate repeat Superbowl Championship wins.

The teams have really been celebrating all season long as both, the Fairview Titan Peewees and the Fairview Titan Minors, went undefeated in their regular season and post-season playoff competitions, leading up to Saturday’s Superbowl Championship game.

Competing in the Tri-County Jr. Pro Football League, the Fairview Titan Peewees and the Fairview Titan Minors capped off their dream 2020 season by bringing home the prestigious football trophy – again! Both teams also won the title in their 2019 season. The coaches immediately set their sights on achieving a repeat in 2020 and reminded their players of their potential to win big.

In the Superbowl Championship game held at East Hickman High School, the Fairview Titan Peewees, ranging in age from 5 - 7 years old, took the gridiron first and defeated McEwen, 30-6.

Fairview Titans Peewee Head Coach Adam Stinson was proud of his team’s success. He stated, “The Fairview Titan Peewees did an amazing job again this year.  After winning the Super Bowl in 2019, they came back in 2020 and did it again!”

Stinson added, “With all the struggles 2020 has presented, these kids continued to work hard and never lost sight of their goal.  I can’t thank the organization, the coaches and the parents enough for all they do.”

Already looking to the future, Stinson shared, “These kids keep coming back year after year because they have so much fun, working, playing and winning as a team.  We have such a great program here in Fairview, and I cannot wait to see what 2021 brings!”

Fairview Titan Minors win their second straight Superbowl Championship.

The Fairview Titan Minors, with a roster of 8 – 10 year olds, were next to take the field last Saturday, and they scored an even bigger win over Waverly with an impressive final score of 54-6.

Fairview Titans Minors Head Coach Nate Mathis said this year was a very special season for many reasons.  “This group of boys I had the privilege to coach for the last four years truly turned into a family by the end of this year.  The captains of the team, Tate Mathis, Lincoln Kelley, Hunter Nolen and Trace (Bullet) McCoy, were true leaders and good role models for the younger guys.”

Feeling privileged to coach this group, which has gone 41-2 in the last four years, three of those years being undefeated Superbowl Champions, Coach Mathis shared, “ The talent God blessed me with the last few years was almost unfair for the other teams; defense, led by Coach Mike “Viking” Sutton, was absolutely incredible this year only giving up 18 points through 10 games.  Thank you to all my coaches, my parents, and especially my 34 boys.  Coach Nate loves you dearly and thanks you so much for the memories I will cherish forever - never forget, you are champions for life!”

The Fairview Titans are a non-profit youth football and cheerleading program, organized for the purpose of offering children the opportunity to play football and cheer in an organized and safe environment.  The Fairview Titans Director is Ian Kelley. Both football players and cheerleaders are coached by qualified individuals who are committed to developing each child both physically and intellectually while also making the experience enjoyable.

“It’s been fun and exciting to watch these young men and young lady (the Pee Wee team has an outstanding young lady that plays with an extreme amount of grit and determination) play the game. These teams are the best for the last two years because of the coaches, the unwavering support of the players’ families and the Fairview Titans fan base,” posted Beth Pennington.

The Fairview Titans’ website states, “Community involvement plays an important part in helping the Fairview Titans to continue to deliver the best program of its kind in the area.  It is this partnership between the Fairview Titans and the community that allows us to play a role in the positive development of the area’s youth.”

Parent Edward Abercrombie sees great things ahead for Fairview football, “These are our future Falcons and Jackets…they are building a dynasty in sports!”
