Teachers at a Tennessee History for Kids inservice at the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum. If you look closely you can see a diorama of Sequoyah in the back.

Sequoyah is one of the most important Tennesseans to have ever lived, and a man with different accounts of his life.

This is the great irony of Sequoyah. The man who invented the Cherokee written language never wrote an autobiography. So, stories about Sequoyah are all derived from a combination of oral tradition and conjecture.
