As Fairview families prepare to celebrate our nation’s independence this weekend, Fairview American Legion Post 248 and their partner the new Marine Corps League LCpl Jeffery “Adam” Bishop Detachment (MCL) invite the community to shop for great deals at their annual fireworks tent sale.

Located at the Fairview Ball Park, 214 Highway 96 North, the fireworks tent sale serves as a fundraiser to support needs in the community.

For American Legion Post Commander David Dodoro, the new partnership is a win-win for both organizations and the community. The older American Legion members are getting some much-needed help from the MCL members, who are half the age of the American Legion members. The mission of each group is also similar with the American Legion supporting all veterans and the MCL supporting Marine and Navy veterans.

With the current economic situation for many families, Dodoro said there is another reason to support the fundraiser. “We are also selling fireworks at a lower mark-up than most will find at any other tent,” said Dodoro.

There is also the opportunity to win $650 worth of fireworks with a $5 donation. The winner of prize package of fireworks will be drawn Saturday.

The fireworks tent will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from now through July 4 or until they sell out. The tent is located between the Fairview ball fields and the Lions Club.

Proceeds will help with improvements to Veterans Memorial Park in Fairview, Fairview High School JROTC activities and competitions, JROTC Scholarships and the needs of local veterans with a special focus on assisting veteran living at the Veterans Home in Murfreesboro.
