WCPR opens Fairview pool for summer

The Fairview Recreation Center outdoor pool opened June 3 with limited hours.

Memorial Day Weekend came and went with no word, but now, the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department (WCPR) has officially announced plans to open the Fairview Recreation Center’s outdoor pool today, Wednesday, June 3.

The season opening comes with a modified schedule, limited amenities and maximum occupant capacities that were established to meet social distancing requirements due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement only indicates the pool has opened. In order to remain open, pool guests need to follow a few basic guidelines to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Here are the new Fairview Outdoor Pool Guidelines:

1. Pool capacity: 100 people maximum

2. Staff supervision

3. Social distancing of six feet will be maintained and enforced.

4. Trash receptacle liners will be changed out regularly.

With the addition of outdoor aquatic features, Williamson County Parks and Recreation is currently hiring for lifeguards, splash park attendants and pool cashiers. Additional information on employment opportunities can be found at www.wcparksandrec.com.

WCPR also announced a limited list of programming opportunities; as well as, open additional indoor facilities and amenities which began June 1. The gradual reopening plan calls for modified schedules, limited amenities and occupant capacities that meet social distancing requirements.

New programming options include group and aqua fitness classes for adults and mini summer dance camps for youth ages 3 and up. New facility and amenity use includes lap swimming at all indoor pool locations; the reopening of the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park for Wellness Center use; the use of indoor racquetball courts and the indoor walking track at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill.

Participating facilities include: the Fairview Recreation Complex, 2714 Fairview Blvd.; the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd.; the Indoor Sports Complex in Brentwood, 920 Heritage Way; the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr.; the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright Avenue; and the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd.
